Ayya Moopanar was born at Kapisthalam village in tanjore district on march 9,1931.Thiru R.Govindasamy Moopanar and Thirumathi G.Saraswathy Ammal were his parents.He was educated at Board High School,Papanasam;

He was a king maker in his own way.His decisions paved way for Rajiv Gandhi's emergence and his eventual prime-ministership.

Agriculturist; worked for upliftment of poor and downtrodden and propagating national integration; was President, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee; was General Secretary, AICC(I); Founder President, Tamil Manila Congress (M) since 1996; Member, (i) Legislative Assembly, Tamil Nadu, 1989-91 and (ii)Committee on Railways; elected to the Rajya Sabha in July,1977, re-elected in July,1983, July,1995 and again in June,1998.

Exemplified simplicity,honesty,integrity and compassion in public life,irrespective of political,linguistic,religious and caste affiliations-a truly rare commodity in present day politicians.Tamil Nadu has lost the last of her sons!

TMC not to dump Cong for AIADMK alliance: Moopanar

Chennai : Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) President G K Moopanar Friday discounted reports that his party was trying to dump the Congress and align with the All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) for the coming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

Asked whether TMC still maintained the view of fighting the elections together with the Congress, as announced by Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, Moopanr shot back, ''did we ever say anything contrary to this?''.

Tamil Mannila Congress President G K Moopanar today put an end to speculation that he might merge his party with the Congress, asserting that he had never spoken about the issue. I had never spoken about the merger and the issue will not come for discussion in the party's executive meeting here tomorrow, he told reporters here.
Moopanar said a decision on contesting the biennial polls would be taken after consulting its allies ..........
